There are now 100 million reasons for gamers to start playing the massively popular Fortnite.

Epic Games, one of the gaming industry’s biggest developers, announced Monday that it will be providing $100 million in prizes for the game’s first year of competitive e-sports tournaments.

The free-to-play Fortnite — a “Hunger Games”-style survival game involving up to 100 players at a time in a fight to the death — has taken the world by storm and counts pro athletes and celebrities among its tens of millions of players.

Epic Games is making more than $1 million a day in revenue on the game with in-game purchases, according to analytics firm Sensor Tower.

“We’re getting behind competitive play in a big way, but our approach will be different,” Epic Games said in a statement. “We plan to be more inclusive, and focused on the joy of playing and watching the game.”
