Facebook reportedly shared user data with a Chinese manufacturing company which has been cited by US government as a national security threat.

The social media giant said on Tuesday that they were in a data-sharing relationship with four Chinese companies including Huawei — which American security officials have flagged as a threat, according to The New York Times.

Facebook officials told The Times that the deal with Huawei would be ended this week. The other agreements remain in effect.

The deals allowed Facebook to become integrated in mobile phone technology in the country — such as adding Facebook “like” buttons on apps.
