Recognizable actors doing voice work on video games is nothing new, but the quantity of famous faces lending their vocal talents to “Fallout: New Vegas” has got to be a record of some sort.
Bethesda Softworks has released the cast for the sequel to their 2008 game, “Fallout 3,” and it’s a doozy so far. The list includes: Ron Perlman (“Hellboy”, “Sons of Anarachy”), Matthew Perry (“Friends”), William Sadler (“Shawshank Redemption”), Zach Levi (“Chuck”), Felicia Day (“The Guild”), Michael Dorn (“Star Trek:The Next Generation”), Kris Kristofferson (“Blade Trilogy”), Danny Trejo (“Machete”, “From Dusk Till Dawn”), John Doman (“Mystic River”, “The Wire”) and Rene Auberjonois (“Boston Legal”, “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”).
And, of course, seeing as how the game is set in an apocalyptic Las Vegas, they’ve got Mr. Las Vegas himself, Wayne Newton, doing his thing.
Curious about what these folks’ characters are?
Ron Perlman returns as the narrator, something he’s done all throughout the franchise. Matthew Perry’s playing against type as Benny, a smooth-talking, two-faced gangster and Wayne Newton a radio DJ known as “Mr. New Vegas.” Then there’s the playable companions: mechanic Raul the Ghoul (Danny Trejo), Follower of the Apocalypse Arcade (Zach Levi) and Brotherhood of Steel scribe Veronica (Felicia Day). Kris Kristofferson is old soldier Chief Hanlon, Rene Auberjonois is the mysterious recluse Mr. House, Michael Dorn is back as mutant Marcus (of 1998’s “Fallout 2”), John Doman is dictator Caesar and William Sadler is Victor, a friendly robot cowboy.
Bethesda says that you can expect to hear other celebrity cameos while you’re playing the game, too.
“Fallout: New Vegas” hits stores on Oct. 19 for Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows.
