Hackers who targeted cheating-spouses website AshleyMadison.com have followed through on a threat to publish online a huge swath of customer data that they stole a month ago, several technology sites reported Tuesday.
The data were posted on what is known as the “Dark Web” — a part of the Internet that can be accessed only by using a specialized browser — although a large list of hundreds of email addresses popped up on other sites shortly after the news broke.
The hackers, who call themselves The Impact Team, posted account details and credit-card information for some 32 million users of the site designed to help married people cheat on their spouses, according to the tech website Wired.
