Hugh Jackman is now our nation’s longest serving superhero role. But the fact that we’re all a little nervous about his now sixth appearance on the screen with the release of the latest Wolverine film today — which is also the chance to finally wash out the taste of 2011’s dopey X-Men Origins — is unfortunate and something of a shocker, because it shouldn’t be that hard to make a good movie about old Adamantium Pants, right?.

The Post’s Kyle Smith calls it “mildly X-citing” and “serviceable” but maybe that’s what we need in these tough midsummer days. In the meantime, here are six Wolverine diversions to restore your faith in Logan.

The Call of the Wolverine

Hugh Jackman loves to scream. At a very consistent note. With appearances in films under his belt, that’s a lot of bellowing. Remember: In his down time, Jackman is a superhero of showtunes on Broadway.

Beserker attack, Mallrats

Probably the single most 90s iteration of Wolverine, via Kevin Smith’s 1995 comic slackerpiece. The flannel! The mall! Silent Bob!

This Venomsaurus Rex from Old Man Logan (2008)

Logan and blind Hawkeye are on the run in this future tale, when, boom, Venom symbiote T-Rex! The story is pretty good too, especially if you like to see what happens when old man Hulk straight up eats Logan.

Everything Wrong With X-Men Last Stand in 9 minutes or less

The latest release from Cinema Sins this week takes on 2006’s downer finale to the trilogy, in which Wolverine gets the a serious skin peel treatment. “Because F*ck Cyclops.”

DIY Wolverine claws

Well, DIY if you have a blacksmith shop, but there’s probably one in Brooklyn somewhere. Also this series is called MAN AT ARMS.

“The Aussie actor’s wife Deborra-Lee Furness said the costume had some uses outside the bedroom too, including the kitchen, where it’s ideal for making salads.”
