It’s official folks, HD DVD is dunzo.

Toshiba announced today that they’re discontinuing their interest in HD DVD. This means they won’t be developing, making or marketing HD DVD players anymore.

Soooo. Now’s the time to get that PS3 you were thinking about buying, since it’s widely acknowledged to be the best Blu-ray player on the market when it comes to picture quality and bang for your buck (ie. also a gaming console, plays regular DVDs etc well).
