Microsoft said Monday afternoon that sales of its Kinect motion-sensing video game device have reached more than 2.5 million units in the product’s first 25 days on the market.

Microsoft had previously set a target of 5 million Kinect units to be sold before the end of the year.

The device allows users to play video games without controls by using body motions. The Kinect plugs into the company’s Xbox 360 console.

In after-hours trading, shares of Microsoft were up 0.2 percent to $25.36.
