If you haven’t already checked it out, you should definitely get onboard the good ship Watching Netflix Streaming on Your PS3.

Xbox has had Netflix capabilities for a while now, but I like the PS3 version better because you don’t have to download an application (sucking up precious harddrive space) and you don’t need to have a paid membership to Xbox Live – on top of paying for Netflix – to stream the movies.

Now, I’ve got a Gold membership so it’s not a big deal for me, but it could be an issue for people who don’t care about online gaming and don’t want to spend an extra $50 a year just for the privilege of watching Netflix on their TVs.

As far as I can tell, the only downside of having Netflix streaming on your PS3 is that you always need to know where the Netflix Instant Streaming disc is – otherwise you’re SOL and you can’t stream nothin’. Word is that Netflix is planning on releasing an application for the PS3 sometime late next year, which would eliminate the need for the disc though.

Netflix on PS3 isn’t the best looking of interfaces, but that doesn’t really matter. As long as it keeps me waist deep in old episodes of shows like “Monarch of the Glen,” then I’m laughing.
