Hurrah! EA and Maxis – makers of the way fabulous SimCity/The Sims franchise – have announced that “Spore” will hit stores on Sept. 7, for PC, Mac, Nintendo DS and cell phones.

If you missed the initial hoopla over the game, here’s a refresher: it gives you the chance to build your own personal universe. Create and evolve life! Establish tribes and build civilizations! Mold worlds and explore a universe created by someone else! Do all of this with awesome tools that let you make creatures, vehicles, buildings and even, yes, UFOs! It’s going to be awesome and crazy time consuming.
