It’s time for Samsung Galaxy Note 7 owners to take off the kid gloves — and put on the hypoallergenic, blue-latex, protective ones.
In the latest chapter of its exploding-phone saga, Samsung is mailing out fireproof “return kits” for recalled Note 7s that are equipped not only with a thermally insulated box but also a pair of protective gloves for handling the combustible-prone gadget.
“These special boxes are required by government regulations,” the South Korean electronics giant explained in a statement, citing rules around recalls of lithium-ion battery devices.
Packing instructions require the phones to be shipped like nesting dolls: first, slipped inside a static shield before being placed inside a small box, then a slightly larger box, and finally a box lined with thermal-protective ceramic fiber.
The mailer is labeled “Forbidden For Transport By Aircraft,” according to a video published this week by XDA Developers, an Android-phone focused news site.
