To my horror, a note about Second Life being brought âinto the real worldâ arrived in my inbox this morning. I feared the worst, of course, but it turns out itâs really just about new audio setups:
Philips today announced the integration of amBXâ¢, its revolutionary âambient experiencesâ technology, in Second Life®, the 3D virtual world from Linden Lab®.By licensing its technology to Rivers Run Red to produce dedicated amBX-enabled environments, Philips will offer Second Life users the opportunity to experience their virtual world through real world sensory surround effects such as lighting, air movement and rumble all tuned to events within the virtual world. The amBX agreement also extends to all-new commercially driven experiences for future brand marketing campaigns, and builds on a highly successful relationship between Philips and Rivers Run Red and their long-running involvement with the development of the âimmersive spaces marketâ.
Frankly, this is all still horrific for the reason that perversion and Second Life go hand in hand. When it takes real effort to avoid anatomically correct animal-humanoid creatures copulating in a virtual space, thereâs something astoundingly wrong with the world.
