Hackers broke into popular sites such as Facebook, Google and Twitter, stealing nearly 2 million user names and passwords, CNN reported Wednesday.

The crooks used a virus that infected the sites over the past month, sending personal data to their computer.

The server was found in the Netherlands and was said to have compromised 93,000 Web sites.
