SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket is one step closer to lift-off.
Elon Musk’s company released an 18-second video Tuesday showing a successful test-fire of one of Falcon Heavy’s engines at its rocket development facility in McGregor, Texas.
The video shows a plume of heavy smoke and flames pouring from the center core of Falcon Heavy’s three-core rocket, which SpaceX calls the “world’s most powerful.”
In February, SpaceX announced plans to send two people to the moon next year aboard Falcon Heavy.
The company also plans to utilize the reusable Falcon Heavy, which is twice as powerful as any other existing rocket, for manned missions to Mars.
