I can’t tell if it’s weird or cool that the U.S. Army is teaming up with Microsoft to have the first ever “Halo 3” championship tourney on Xbox Live.

Registration doesn’t start until March, but you can now enlist (hah) for a series of basic combat training exercises that’ll (cough) prepare you for battle right now. In these seshes, you can hone your skills with different weapons groups with exclusive training videos via the Army’s “Branded Destination Experience” site accessible through your Xbox Live dashboard. There’s also a tips and tricks section, free themes and gamer pics to commemorate your participation in “Halo 3” Basic Combat Training. It ain’t a medal of honor, but it’s something.
