Twitter’s financial chief just experienced firsthand what it’s like to be hacked on the microblogging site.
Chief Financial Officer Anthony Noto’s Twitter account was briefly hacked Tuesday afternoon, tweeting spam to other users before being cleaned up.
“OMG when did you do this?” one tweet from the former Goldman Sachs banker read.
“This pic of you is funny lol,” read another.
“His account was sending spam tweets,” Twitter spokesman Jim Prosser confirmed. “We’ve locked the account down and deleted the tweets. There’s no indication any account information was accessed.”
Noto, who joined Twitter last summer after leading its IPO as a Goldman banker, had an embarrassing tweeting incident in November, when he accidentally broadcast what was supposed to be a private “direct message” about acquiring a company.
Separately on Tuesday, Newsweek’s Twitter account was apparently hacked by an ISIS-affiliated group called CyberCaliphate, which posted tweets threatening President Obama’s family.
Other recent high-profile hacking victims on Twitter have included singer Taylor Swift and restaurant chain Chipotle.
