Fitbits are so yesterday — as sneakers become the next iteration of wearable technology.

Under Armour is the latest footwear maker to trick out its shoes with chip technology that tells your smartphone or smartwatch when your muscles are too tired to run at full capacity.

In February, the Baltimore-based company is releasing three running shoes — costing $140 to $160 — that connect to the MapMyRun Under Armour app.

“We know that one of the biggest problems runners face is pushing through pain and fatigue, leading to injury,” said Mike Lee, a digital officer at Under Armour.

Both Nike and Adidas have chip-enabled shoes that measure distance, time and speed, but the Under Armour’s so-called Record Equipped footwear is the first to measure your body’s readiness for exercise.
