One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a New Jersey highway crash that involved a bus and three cars, police said.

The crash — which also left about 17 others with minor injuries — happened on I-80 in Parsippany at about 7:30 p.m., New Jersey State Police said in a tweet.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

A spokesperson for the Morristown Medical Center said patients from the crash were rushed to the hospital. Their injuries ranged from minor to critical, spokeswoman Elaine Andrecovich said.

Express lanes on the highway in the area were closed after the crash.
