More than 100 loved ones mourned the sudden death of Food Network star Anne Burrell – including famous chefs and other celebrities – during a somber wake on the Upper East Side Friday.

Family and friends were heard telling each other that Burrell would have wanted to see them smiling and laughing during the small, private affair at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on Madison Avenue.

Mourners were also spotted approaching Burrell’s husband, Stuart Claxton, who married the longtime host of “Worst Cooks in America” in October 2021 in her upstate New York hometown of Cazenovia.

It was the first time Claxton was seen in public since he found his wife unresponsive at her Brooklyn home Tuesday morning. She was 55.

Burrell’s Food Network colleagues, including “Chopped” judge Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag and Marc Murphy, attended the wake.

Also spotted was NBC New York anchor Lauren Scala, restaurateur Melba Wilson, “Real Housewives of New York City” alum Kelly Bensimon, TV personality Carson Kressley and musician Mitch Mitchell.

Attendees could be seen embracing and catching up outside the funeral home.

The celebrity chef’s body was discovered in the shower at around 8 a.m., with dozens of pills nearby, sources said Thursday.

The sources cautioned that it was too early to speculate whether the pills had played any role in Burrell’s untimely death. The city Medical Examiner’s Office was said to be running a toxicology screening. 

A FDNY spokesperson told Page Six Wednesday that a 911 caller claimed Burrell suffered cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police don’t believe foul play was a factor in her death, sources have said.

Mourners declined to comment when exiting the funeral home Friday afternoon, but a flood of touching remembrances have poured in over the last few days.

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,” Burrell’s family said in a statement announcing her tragic death.

“Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal,” the family said.

“Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent — teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and joy that a delicious meal can bring,” a Food Network spokesperson said in a statement.

Burrell, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, worked as a chef in the Big Apple for years before becoming a hallmark name.

Known for her trademark spiked and bleached hair, she appeared on numerous shows, including “Iron Chef America,” “Chef Wanted,” “Chopped” and her own show, “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef,” which ran for nine seasons and earned her an Emmy nomination.

Burrell published two cookbooks — the New York Times best-selling “Cook Like a Rock Star” in 2011 and “Own Your Kitchen Recipes To Inspire & Empower” in 2013. 

Rachel Ray, who was a bridesmaid in Burrell’s wedding said she was “truly shaken” by her friend’s death. 

“John and I are heartbroken,” Ray wrote on Instagram Wednesday referring to her husband John Cusimano, along with a slew of photos with their late friend.

“I can’t quite believe it — such a strong, vibrant, fearless woman, so full of life and love, could be gone so soon.”
