At least 11 officers were killed Monday during an ambush in violence-plagued Burkina Faso, West Africa, a report said.

Four other officers are still missing after a police unit on a relief mission was hit in the town of Yirgou, in a region where jihadist attacks have been rampant, Reuters said.

“Joint search operations with the army have been underway since yesterday,” Security Minister Ousseini Compaore reportedly said.

The incident comes weeks after a militants attacked the village of Solhan in overnight raid, killing 132 and burning homes, according to Reuters.
