A 14-year-old girl died at an amusement park in Denmark on Thursday when a portion of a roller coaster came off its rails, police and park officials said.
The accident occurred just before 1 p.m. when the rear two seats broke on the Cobra roller coaster ride at Tivoli Friheden amusement park in Aarhus, police said.
A manager told a local newspaper that the two seats were hanging “under the wagon train.”
Two riders sitting in the seats on the doomed coaster were seriously injured and taken to the hospital, local newspaper Aarhus Stiftstidende reported.
Among them was a 13-year-old boy who suffered injuries to his hand, Danish news outlet TV2 reported.
Police later confirmed that a 14-year-old girl had died in the “tragic” accident, though no further details were released about the circumstances.
Relatives of the 14-year-old girl, from Copenhagen, have been notified, police said.
