OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — Authorities said a 16-year-old died when a riding mower flipped and landed on top of him.

Dick Hackett, a spokesman for the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department, told The Commercial Appeal Barrett Williams was on the mower Tuesday when it flipped and fell on top of him in a culvert filled with water.

Hackett said Williams was preparing to enter his senior year in high school.

He said no one else was injured.
