Two men blamed in American prosecutor Rachelle Bergeron’s murder on the tiny Pacific island of Yap conspired for a month before the crime, officials said according to a report.

Anthony Teteeth and Frances Buchun were identified Thursday as suspects in the Oct. 14 shooting of 33-year-old Bergeron, who served as acting attorney general for the island, New Zealand news outlet RNZ reported.

Prosecutors allege Buchun drove Teteeth to the attorney’s home, where Teteeth gunned her down outside.

Teteeth was slapped with six charges including murder, while Buchun faces six counts including conspiracy to commit murder and possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, the outlet reported.

The pair were denied bail and were expected to appear in court Dec. 18, according to RNZ.

It’s not clear what the motive was behind the grisly shooting.

But Bergeron’s friends said her job made her a “target” on the island, where she prosecuted human traffickers.

“She was a target,” family friend Amos Collins told ABC News. “She had to deal with a lot of the worst things.”
