Just before the release of the Mueller report, hopefuls among the crowded 2020 Democratic presidential field panned Attorney General William Barr’s pre-release press briefing as partisan spin.

Barr said that Special Counsel Robert Mueller concluded that President Trump neither colluded with Russia during the 2016 race nor obstructed the ensuing two-year probe.

But some left-of-the-aisle pols wanted Americans to read the report and make up their own minds.

“AG Barr’s press conference was a farce and an embarrassing display of propaganda on behalf of President Trump,” tweeted Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D – NY). “Barr works for the people, not the president. They deserve to know Mueller’s full findings because nobody — especially not the president — is immune from accountability.

“Congress should get the full, unredacted Mueller report,” Gillibrand added in another tweet. “The American people have the right to know the facts — without the spin.”

Frequent Trump foe Sen. Elizabeth Warren also chimed in.

“It’s a disgrace to see an Attorney General acting as if he’s the personal attorney and publicist for the President of the United States,” wrote the Massachusetts Democrat.

Sen. Cory Booker (D – New Jersey) also panned Barr’s pre-release breakdown.

“The American people deserve the truth. Not spin from a Trump appointee,” wrote Booker. “Release Mueller’s full report now.”

Booker will get his wish — or something close to it — Thursday morning, when the Justice Department publicly releases a redacted version of the report online, after delivering a copy to Congress.
