Three people were charged Thursday — including a mother and her daughter — in connection to the savage murder of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, who had her baby ripped out of her womb after being strangled to death.

Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and Desiree Figueroa, 24, were both hit with murder charges and Clarissa’s boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, 40, was charged with concealment of a crime, according to Chicago police officials.

“Words cannot express how disgusting and thoroughly disturbing these allegations are,” said police Superintendent Eddie Johnson.

“All of us up here are parents, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters. So it doesn’t escape us, the emotional [cost] this takes on people,” added Deputy Chief Brendan Deenihan. “They (Ochoa-Lopez’s family) should be celebrating the birth of a young baby. Instead they’re mourning the death of this young lady and possibly the child.”

Police believe that Clarisa Figueroa lured the expectant mother to her home — offering free baby clothes — after meeting the young woman on Facebook. Sources told CBS that Ochoa-Lopez was led down to the basement and strangled with a coaxial cable.

“[Desiree Figueroa] confesses that she assisted her mother — strangling Marlen,” Deenihan said.

Officials declined to comment on how Ochoa-Lopez’s baby was removed from her body out of respect for the family. It’s unclear what Clarisa and her daughter were going to do with the child.

“Only they know that,” Johnson said. “We assume they would raise the child as their own.”

Officials told reporters that Clarisa had recently lost her son, who was in his 20s, to natural causes.

“It appears from our interviews that this was the first time that they did this,” Deenihan said.
