Four children were found alive after they went missing on a snowmobile during a blizzard in Alaska, officials said.

The kids — Christopher Johnson, 14, Frank Johnson, 8, Ethan Camille, 7, and Trey Camille, 2 – were located Monday around 18 miles away from their home in Nunam Iqua after an extensive search, news station KTUU reported.

The group had gone out Sunday for a short snowmobile ride, but then the weather conditions grew worse.

“It became an hour and the weather started being bad, and that’s when we called for someone to go out and look,” said Karen Camille, who is the mother of three of the children and sister to the fourth.

More than 24 hours later, the missing kids were found by a search and rescue team on the ground. They had managed to locate shelter, a member of the search team told KTTU.

They were suffering from severe hypothermia and airlifted to a hospital in Bethel, the outlet reported.

One child was admitted to Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp. Hospital for further care, while another was brought to Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, the outlet reported. The two other children were treated and released.

“I never would have thought that he would make it,” Trey’s father, Alphonso Thomas, told KTUU.
