Four people were found dead outside a beachside resort in Cancun on Monday as deadly violence continues to plague the country.

The four bodies were all discovered in the city’s hotel zone near the beach, though authorities did not immediately reveal who the victims were or where they were from.

Two suspects tied to the killings were arrested, prosecutors in the state of Quintana Roo said.

The causes of death were not revealed.

Originally, officials said three bodies were found in a lot near the beachside hotel before a fourth body was eventually spotted in the undergrowth on the same lot.

The grisly find was made a week after a US tourist was shot in the leg when he was approached by several suspects in Puerto Morelos.

It’s unclear why the tourist was shot.

The US State Department warned travelers to “exercise increased caution,” especially after dark, at Mexico’s buzzing beach resorts like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum that have faced drug cartel violence.

Two Canadians were killed in Playa del Carmen in 2022 over apparent debts between international drug and weapons traffickers.

And in 2021, two tourists were caught in the crossfire of a gunfight between rival drug dealers in Tulum.

One of the victims was a California travel blogger born in India.
