Four men were sentenced to prison for their part in the death of 39 Vietnamese migrants smuggled into the United Kingdom in 2019.
The smugglers — Ronan Hughes, Gheorghe Nica, Maurice Robinson and Eamonn Harrison — were convicted of manslaughter and conspiracy to commit unlawful immigration, according to reports.
The lifeless bodies of the migrants, discovered in a sealed container at a port near London in October 2019, shocked the UK and Vietnam. They ranged in ages from 15 to 44, and were all from impoverished provinces in the north central part of Vietnam.
