America’s five living ex-presidents made a joint appearance Saturday night at a benefit concert in Texas to raise money for victims of the hurricanes that hit Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Barack Obama, 56, said, “When they see strangers in need, Americans step up.” George W. Bush, 71, told those affected by the storms, “We’re with them for the long haul.” Bill Clinton, 71, pointed out, “We’ve been volunteering since before the Constitution, when Benjamin Franklin organized the first volunteer fire department in Philadelphia.” Also attending were George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter, both 93. President Trump sent a taped message thanking the five.
