ATTLEBORO, Mass. — A man prosecutors say was with Aaron Hernandez the night the former New England Patriot tight end’s friend was killed has been held on $500,000 cash bail.
Ernest Wallace appeared yesterday in Attleboro, Mass., District Court on a charge of being an accessory after the fact to murder.
His lawyer argued that Wallace was not a flight risk and wanted to return to his family in Florida. Attorney David Meier sought bail of $10,000.
Prosecutors, calling Wallace Hernandez’s “right-hand man,” sought $1 million bail.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old Boston semiprofessional football player whose body was found June 17 in an industrial park, about a mile from Hernandez’s home.
Prosecutors say Hernandez orchestrated Lloyd’s killing because he was upset with him.
