Bad weather led to a nearly 60-car pileup on a highway in western Maryland — snarling post-Thanksgiving traffic and stranding drivers for hours on end, according to a new report.

Maryland State Police confirmed that 58 cars were involved in 29 separate accidents on Interstate 68 Sunday, backing up traffic for 5 to 6 miles, local outlet WUSA 9 reported.

Dense fog that caused limited visibility was to blame for the crashes, authorities said.

Ten people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The pileups prompted authorities to shut down roads from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Commuters fumed about the delays on Twitter.

“Welcomed back to Maryland by driving past 4 separate accidents on the way home,” one person wrote.

“I left at 1:30 to go back to campus,” posted another, who identified herself as a graduate assistant at the University of Charleston in West Virginia. “It’s almost 5:30 and I’m still in Maryland! I should have 1 hour left of my drive but I’m stuck in stop and go traffic with 3.5 hours to go.”
