A child is in critical condition after at least five people were shot Saturday during a Mardi Gras parade in Louisiana, officials said.
The 6-year-old, whose gender was not immediately known, was struck in the leg multiple times and airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge where they are listed in critical condition, local outlet Unfiltered with Kiran reported.

The 21st annual ‘Mardi Gras in the Country’ parade — which has since been shut down by authorities — had just begun when the gunfire broke out, East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeff Travis told WAFB.
Four suspects had been taken into custody according to Travis — and police are searching for a vehicle in relation to the shooting.
