Police in Michigan said a 6-year-old girl shared photos online of her dead father and unconscious stepmother in an attempt to get help.

The young girl was rescued Thursday evening from a home in Mount Morris Township after a relative saw the horrific photos she posted to Facebook and contacted 911, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Authorities arrived at the scene to find the girl’s 36-year-old stepmother unresponsive and a pit bull gnawing on her 40-year-old father’s body.

Township Police Chief Terence Green said the adults appear to have suffered an overdose. The woman was brought to a local hospital, where she remains in the intensive care unite, according to officials.

The father’s cause of death has not been released.

Green credited the young girl with saving her stepmother’s life.

“Her actions, we believe, actually saved a life,” Green told the Detroit Free Press. “This 6-year-old went through a traumatic event — and she saved a life.”
