Slow and steady may win the race — but doesn’t make cops go away.
A 68-year-old man who was high on marijuana led seven squad cars on a 20 mph chase in Pennsylvania, reports said Thursday.
Dorie Adams was driving in Bellefonte around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, when cops first tried pulling him over — but the defiant driver refused.
Adams continued his joyride through Milesburg and onto Route 22 — leading cops on the slow speed chase for more than 15 miles before stop sticks were used to nab the pothead, WJAC reported.
“All this for just a DUI and smoking a little marijuana. I hope you are happy with yourself,” Adams told cops after the stop, the outlet reported.
Adams, facing a felony charge for fleeing cops and two misdemeanor charges for driving under the influence, appeared in court on Wednesday, CentreDaily.com reported. He also received five traffic violations.
“We knew who he was, so if it would have got to the point where it was unsafe, we would have definitely called the pursuit off,” Bellefonte Police Chief Shawn Weaver told Centre Daily. “But we were pretty confident that if he continued on the road he was going to cause an accident.”
Adams, handcuffed and in red jail garb, defended himself to WJAC while walking into the court.
“I’m innocent,” Adams said.
But the stoner senior was also reportedly charged again with possession of marijuana last week, the outlet reported.
Records show that Adams is in custody at the Centre County Correctional Facility.
