A 10-year-old Liberian child has become the sad symbol of Africa’s desperate struggle to contain the spread of Ebola.
Heartbreaking photos of little Saah Exco, wearing nothing but socks, have put a face on the terrifying epidemic and accompanying panic.
Saah was reportedly in a holding center for Ebola patients when it was overrun by a mob in the West Point neighborhood of Monrovia.
Locals, acting on rumors that Ebola patients were being brought to that center from across the country, overran the place.
Saah was stripped of his clothes and left all alone, sitting on an overturned bucket when a photographer snapped these terribly sad images of him.
People passed by the helpless little child, fearing he could be sick and spread his ailment.
