New Mexico prosecutors are set to recharge Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the 2021 shooting on the set of his film “Rust” that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
The forthcoming charges were reported by NBC News, which cited two sources close to the case.
Baldwin’s case will be brought before a grand jury in mid-November, a source added.
There have also been recent rumblings of a possible plea deal, they said.
Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, Baldwin’s attorneys with the firm Quinn Emanuel, told The Post: “It is unfortunate that a terrible tragedy has been turned into this misguided prosecution. We will answer any charges in court.”
Special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis dismissed Baldwin’s initial involuntary manslaughter charge in April due to “new facts” in the case.
The New Mexico legal team, however, retained the right to recharge the actor, writing, “This decision does not absolve Mr. Baldwin of criminal culpability and charges may be refiled.”
The latest update comes nearly exactly two years after Hutchins was shot when Baldwin’s prop gun fired on the Western film set on Oct. 21, 2021.

Baldwin told ABC News he had “no idea” how a live bullet got into the ‘Rust’ set, but added he “didn’t pull the trigger” on the Colt .45 revolver.
Investigators who took apart the gun found the weapon had worn joints and the trigger control did not function properly, according to NBC sources.
