Disgraced South Carolina killer Alex Murdaugh is appealing his recent conviction in the murders of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, court papers show.
Murdaugh’s legal team filed the Notice of Appeal late Thursday.
The 54-year-old, whose full name is Richard Alexander Murdaugh, is currently being housed at the Kirkland Correctional Institution in Columbia.
Murdaugh’s trial played out in South Carolina’s Colleton County over the course of six weeks.
The once-powerful, now-disbarred attorney also faces charges for a litany of other crimes.
