An Atlanta college student was allegedly strangled to death by her roommate’s boyfriend after accusing him of sex assault, a report said Tuesday.
Alexis Crawford, 21, and her roommate, Jordyn Jones, were fighting at their apartment on Oct. 31 before Jones’ boyfriend, Barron Brantley, stepped in and strangled Crawford to death, USA Today reported.
Jones and Brantley then loaded her body into a plastic bin and dumped it in a park in nearby Decatur, Georgia, according to the report.
They were both arrested after the slaying and charged with malice murder. The duo face the possibility of the death penalty and life imprisonment if convicted.
Days earlier, Alexis reported that she was sexually assaulted by Brantley in her apartment, according to WSBTV.
Crawford’s family previously told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that her and Jones were “two peas in a pod” before her killing.
“They knew Jordyn, they liked Jordyn,” Rev. Markel Hutchins told the outlet on behalf of the family. “There was never a reason to suspect that Jordyn would do anything wrong or ill to Alexis.”
