A mother accused of kidnapping her two children in Santa Clarita Wednesday is believed to have taken them to Mexico after their father was granted custody of the kids.
Police issued an urgent Amber Alert early Thursday for Sofia Ordonez, 9, and Romeo Ordonez, 12, who were last seen around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with their mother Cristal Ordonez, 45, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Sofia Ordonez, 9, is missing. @CHPAlerts/XThe alleged kidnapping followed a Wednesday court proceeding during which the kids’ father, Roman Ordonez, was granted full custody, NBC Los Angeles reported.
Cristal didn’t agree with the decision and took the children and fled the scene, according to Sgt. Mark Perkins with the station.
The mother’s phone was pinged in Mexico, leading authorities to believe she crossed the border with the kids.

Cristal is described as having black hair and brown eyes, stands around 5 feet tall and 135 pounds.
Cristal is believed to be driving a black 2018 Kia Sorento with California license plate 8LRF237.
