The granddaughter of a Minneapolis anti-violence advocate is fighting for her life after being shot in the head as she rode in a car, according to a report.
K.G. Wilson, a prominent activist in Minneapolis, identified the girl who was shot late Monday as his 6-year-old granddaughter, Aniya Allen, the Star Tribune reported.
Wilson told the newspaper Tuesday Aniya’s condition was “not good,” but added the girl was “still with us though,” according to the report.
Wilson posted a photo online of the smiling young girl next to him early Tuesday while vowing to get justice in the shooting.
“You maggots shot my granddaughter,” Wilson wrote on Facebook. “You shot the wrong one this time. I’m going to find you sooner than you know!”
While outside the hospital, Wilson later asked friends in a separate post to keep the girl in their prayers “as she fights” to survive.
Minneapolis police said in a statement Tuesday that the victims identified only as a “pre-teen” girl and a man were rushed to separate hospitals following the shooting at about 11:15 p.m. Monday.
“It appears that the two victims were injured in the same incident,” police said.
Investigators believe the man was on foot at the time when he was wounded. Cops are investigating whether he was intended target in the shooting, police spokesman John Elder told The Post.

Both were rushed to separate hospitals via private transport within minutes of each other following the gunfire. Both remained in critical condition at each facility Tuesday, police said.
The department’s Homicide Unit worked the case overnight, but no arrests have been made, department officials said.
The incident marked the third time a child was shot in Minneapolis since late April, the Star Tribune reported. At least 21 juveniles have been wounded citywide in 2021, roughly double the figure this time a year ago, according to the newspaper.
Trinity Ottoson-Smith, 9, was shot in the head Saturday as she bounced on a trampoline with friends at a home in the city’s Jordan section. She was listed in critical condition late Sunday and dozens of relatives gathered outside a hospital Monday to pray for her recovery, the newspaper reported.
The third child, Ladavionne Garrett Jr., 10, was shot on April 30 while sleeping in the back seat of his parents’ car in Minneapolis, KARE reported. The boy was last listed in critical condition, according to the Star Tribune.
Police have not announced any arrests in the earlier shootings, KARE reported.
