Dog owners at a Washington state apartment complex will need to register their pooches’ DNA before they can move in — and those who don’t clean up after their pups will face fines or worse.
“I see them let their dog crap wherever they want and just leave it there and walk away,” said a fed-up Timothy Johnston, a maintenance man at the Monterra apartments in Tacoma, Wash., who has the job of cleaning up the piles of doggy dung.
So management at the 300-unit complex hired a company called PooPrints and will require all pet owners to register their dog’s DNA.
When workers spot a pile of poop left behind, they will take a sample and match it to the guilty pooch and its owner — who will be slapped with a $200 fine.
