An Atlanta ice cream man previously convicted of molestation was found guilty of raping a 14-year-old girl in the back of his truck, prosecutors said.
Khabir Daniel, 45, was sentenced to 25 years in prison on numerous charges including aggravated child molestation, sodomy, and statutory rape, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.
Daniel was arrested in July 2018 after a 911 call about a parked ice cream truck “rocking in a back and forth motion.” The caller suspected that the people inside were having sex, officials said.
When authorities arrived, Daniel told them that he and his “girlfriend” were stocking the shelves of the truck.
But when Daniel stepped outside of the truck, he told officers that he and the worker had been kissing.
Since authorities “could clearly see she was very young” they questioned her about her relationship with her boss. She told police that she was 14=years-old and that Daniel had made sexual advances on her.
In jailhouse calls, Daniel told his wife that he “should have pulled away from that little girl, but she was like a drug.”
Daniel has more than two dozen previous arrests and six felony convictions — including for burglary, drug possession and child molestation, prosecutors said.
