Austin Metcalf’s twin brother mourned the senseless loss of the Texas high school football star, tragically revealing, “We were one person” in a new interview — as the teens’ grieving father revealed his gut-punching final moments with his slain son.

Father Jeff and identical twin brother Hunter Metcalf expounded on the loss of the 17-year-old athlete and honor student, who was allegedly stabbed in the chest and killed by Karmelo Anthony, also 17, at a track meet on Wednesday.

“We were one person,” Austin’s identical twin, Hunter, told the Dallas News Thursday. “We did everything together, everything the same. We connected so well.”

Hunter held the dying Austin in his arms during a track meet at David Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, after Frisco Centennial High School student Anthony allegedly stabbed him in the chest following a short argument about seating.

Jeff arrived at the scene to find Austin on a gurney, covered in blood and with a hole in his chest, he told the outlet.

The forlorn father said he kissed Austin’s cold forehead and lovingly ran his fingers through his hair in their final moments together at the hospital, the report stated.

“I pray that none of this happens to another family,” Jeff told the outlet. “If you can’t be a kind person, find one. We need more compassion, more love, more understanding, better parenting and less social media.

“I’m so proud,” Jeff added. “Of both of my sons. They were, and still are, great men.”

The bereaved father recalled that growing up, the twins were inseparable, participating in several sports and constantly doing outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing.

On Austin’s last hunting trip with his father and brother last Saturday — just four days before his heartless murder — the teen took down his first wild hog in a moment Jeff said he will remember for the rest of his life, according to the report.

Austin was in his Junior year at Memorial High School. He was a National Honor Society member with a 4.0 GPA and was an all-district linebacker as well as his team’s MVP. Jeff told the outlet that Austin was getting offers from colleges to play football.

“This was going to be his year,” Jeff revealed.

First responders were unable to save Austin Wednesday, when his heart was pierced with a knife allegedly wielded by Anthony, who unsheathed the weapon after an argument during a rain delay at the track meet.

Anthony was taken into custody after the vicious incident and is charged with murder, according to local authorities.

“I’m not alleged, I did it,” Anthony told police as he was being arrested, according to an arrest warrant obtained by NBC DFW.
