An Austin, Texas, high school was briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday amid reports of students with a handgun, according to local reports.

Authorities were called to Akins High School shortly after 10 a.m. local time, Austin Police Chief Ashley A. Gonzalez said.

Reports had come in about three students armed with a gun inside a bathroom in the building, KXAN reported.

Police investigated and one student was found in possession of two ammunition magazines, the outlet said. No shot were fired.

The school said all students and teachers were safe — and all students were accounted for.

Teachers and students were locked in dark classrooms during the lockdown, according to reports on social media.

“I’m a teacher here. We are in lockdown with all students safe in locked, dark classrooms. It’s very quiet. Police are checking each room,” a teacher tweeted.

The lockdown came less than 24 hours after a 15-year-old gunman opened fire on fellow students at a Michigan high school, killing four and injuring eight.
