“Low-tox” Australian food influencer Stacey Hatfield has died due to “an unforeseen and extremely rare complication” after she home birthed her first child, her grieving husband said.
She was 30.
“Stace passed on the 29th September 2025 after successfully giving birth to our firstborn son, Axel, at home,” said spouse Nathan Warnecke in an emotional social media post Sunday.

Hospital staff were amazing and did the utmost to help, but ultimately nothing could be done despite their best efforts.”
Hatfield, the Melbourne native, rose to prominence after she launched her business Natural Spoonfuls, which is committed to embracing whole foods and weeding out chemicals in recipes as part of the natural living movement.

More details about the birth of her son and death were not immediately revealed.
“It was her life’s biggest dream to be a mum,” her husband added. “She did it. On her terms, exactly the way she always dreamed of doing it.”

“She held Axel when he was born, nursed him, saw that he was a boy and loved him,” he wrote. “She loved him so much and still, continues to love him.”
The couple knew each other for nine years and were approaching their first year wedding anniversary, loved one Jon Downie said in a fundraiser for the widower and newborn.
“Nathan is not one to ask for help, however we know he will need assistance. With love and support we know he will succeed and be an amazing father to Axel,” Downie wrote in a GoFundMe post.“There is no doubt the financial prospects from here for Nathan are significant. Nathan will be unable to return to work as planned for the near future.”
