This baby elephant nearly died after poachers left him to die in the middle of massive Kenyan forest.
The orphaned animal, named Simotua, was found fighting for his life in June with a large spear wound on his skull and a snare wrapped around his leg in Rumuruti Forest, according to Barcroft Media.
But a rescue team from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust tracked down the 1-year-old elephant, providing immediate care before flying Simotua to the Nairobi National Park.
An on-site vet crew provided 24-hour rehab to help Simotua get healthy and he continues to get stronger each day.
