A Berlin airport terminal was shut down after security workers got bad vibes from suspicious devices picked up on X-ray – but a red-faced passenger finally revealed them to be sex toys.
The screeners at Schönefeld Airport spotted “suspicious content in a luggage piece” on Tuesday, according to German authorities, CNN reported.
The airport’s D terminal was closed shortly before 11 a.m. as the bomb squad took a long, hard look inside a bag whose owner was called over the public-address system.
Apparently, due to embarrassment, the traveler was reluctant to properly explain the contents, saying only that the luggage contained “technical stuff,” according to CNN.
The 31-year-old man finally came clean and told authorities that he was carrying sex toys that he had bought for his girlfriend, the UK’s Independent reported.
He was then allowed to continue his journey.
“Police Investigation is over. Terminal D reopened. However, further impairments in passenger handling possible,” the airport announced on Twitter.
Schönefeld, which was the main airport of the German Democratic Republic, is now used mainly by low-cost airlines such as easyJet and Ryanair.
