WASHINGTON — Former Massachusetts US Rep. Barney Frank said he would like to fill in for Senator John Kerry, who has been nominated for secretary of state.

Frank, who retired from Congress this week, told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” yesterday that he would like to serve during the budget debates to follow this week’s “fiscal cliff” deal.

Massachusetts Gov. Duval Patrick will nominate a temporary seat-holder for Kerry until a special election takes place in early summer.
