A Romanian teacher was caught on video repeatedly slapping one of her young students in the face because he fell behind taking notes, according to the Mirror Online.

The disturbing footage shows the Tulcea County teacher– who was supposedly retired but still teaching due to a shortage of staff — swatting the boy at least six times in the face.

“He’s afraid of her since she slapped him so brutally,” the unnamed child’s mother told the Mirror. “I saw the footage and that hurt me. It’s my child.”

The teacher’s name has not been released. Authorities are investigating the incident.
