A Belgian mayor was found murdered in a graveyard with his throat slashed by a vengeful teen — who blamed the politician for his own dad’s death, according to reports on Tuesday.

The body of Alfred Gadenne, 71, the mayor of Mouscron, was discovered Monday in a cemetery that he opens and closes every day in the city, located about 64 miles west of Brussels, according to Sky News.

An 18-year-old man is now in custody after allegedly admitting to police that he blamed Gadenne for his dad’s suicide in 2015 over losing his job as a local council employee.

Gadenne’s murder, which occurred in the cemetery next to his home in Mouscron, shocked his colleagues. Gadenne was the caretaker at the graveyard, locking its gates every night.

“I learn with alarm the brutal death of Alfred Gadenne. All my thoughts go to his family and loved ones,” tweeted Belgium Prime Minister Charles Michel.

“Scary! In what world are we living?” tweeted Philippe Courard, president of the parliament for Belgium’s French-speaking south.
