Hillary Clinton may not like him — but voters do.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is leading the field on questions of character, with more voters than not saying they liked the socialist’s personal values, according to a new USA TODAY/Ipsos poll.

The results found 40% of U.S. voters said they admired Sanders’ character. Sanders’ 2020 Democratic rivals were all clustered together in a distant second. Former Vice President Joe Biden received 31%. Former South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren both polled at 30% while former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg received 29%.

President Trump trailed everyone with just 26% of respondents saying they admired his character.

Sanders also topped the question of which candidate “shares my values,” with 39% of respondents saying it was the curmudgeonly 78-year-old senator. Only 31% said the same for Warren, 30% for for Buttigieg and Biden, and 28% for Bloomberg. President Trump performed slightly better in this category, received 31% support. 

Sanders is currently locked in a tight race with Buttigieg after the two essentially fought to a draw in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary. The poll suggests continued momentum for Sanders as he heads into Nevada, South Carolina and Super Tuesday in March.
